I have been working at Smiths Medical as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

As the local campus is only 500 people or so people, you can better see the "works" behind everything and have good exposure to processes that affect your department as well as processes your department could possibly affect.

Cons

Paperwork tens to move slowly because none of it is electronic. Because of that, everything else in general moves slower.

    Decent pay vs competition ... nice array of representatives.

    BACKORDERS! Terrible support from home office. You are on an island.

    Pros

    I have been part of the best Sales Team ever... Great people in the field.

    Cons

    They make it impossible to consistently earn commission. If the Sales Force is earning commission, they will change the comp plan (mid year) and take back commision already paid.
    It is easy to sell but impossible to maintain current business due to backorders and supply chain issues.

    Advice to Management

    Marketing should not be over sales. The Sales Team should have their own leadership, someone with a sales back ground. Smiths Medical should value your Sales Team and protect their income from supply chain issues.
