I worked at Snap full-time

Pros

There is a cool and very open environment which enables you to collaborate well with your coworkers. The people are fun to work with, and the perks are great (fully-stocked kitchen).

Cons

The hours were very random, and sometimes ran from midnight until 6am, or 6am until noon. Also the fun atmosphere sometimes made it hard to focus and get work done.

I worked at Snap as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment for the most part. Friendly, diverse, cooperative team. Work itself was usually interesting. Entire team was allowed to weigh in on the direction of the department, at least before a major hiring phase.

    Cons

Complete absence of a performance management system for interns. Little to no opportunity to develop internships into a full-time offer, even while impressing most of the full-time employees with level and quality of work. Graveyard shifts at times. Full-time offers themselves based on pay-hierarchy, which itself was based on date entering the company. If you didn't get in early, the salaries themselves were insulting.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to actually level all the human capital you have at your fingertips. Also, figure out how to to incentive the right people to stay. Develop a better performance management system. Stop hiring people so quickly. You need to focus on getting the right talent rather than expanding quickly. All of this may well be mute given the need to up revenue generation pre-IPO, but it may well hurt in the long run.
