Fun Team & Lots of Focus on Culture
Nov 28, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Really nice workspace. Given basically anything you need to succeed (Snacks, Bose noise cancelling headphones, stand up desks, etc.) Management gives younger people a chance to grow and gain authority within the company. A handful of employees were hired straight out of college. Office culture / keeping employees happy seems to be important since they provide perks like breakfast and lunch throughout the week, and are pretty liberal with time off requests. For the most part, the team is really laid back and likes to joke around. Everyone's trying to have a good time, while also working hard.
Cons
There's a lot to learn in the beginning and there's not a clear training method. When you get an upset customer, they can be very hostile. Its hard to console them or know what to do when we can't always give them what they want. Since its an open floor plan, it can get sort of loud when all of the reps are on the phone at once.

End of Day, We’re Making a Difference

Soberlink is a fast-paced environment that encourages independent thinking and self-management. The open-door policy by the management team allows everyone the opportunity to share new ideas and bounce them around in a constructive way. I have worked in Corporate America for over 20years prior to Soberlink and have never seen a CEO and management team be more open to employee ideas no matter what level or title you hold. We are all working together to help those struggling with Alcohol Use Disorder and truly making a difference. On a personal level, my work is rewarding when I hear the thanks and praises we are given by our customers. Oh yeah, the free breakfast on Monday and Wednesdays are really nice and Friday pizza is an added bonus.
Cons
Soberlink is a small company with open workspaces, this type of environment is not for everyone.

Unfriendly culture unless tenured. Substandard training methods

Perks like breakfasts and lunch provided. Aesthetic environment
Cons
Steep learning curve and training methods are scattered with no clear methods. Without solid training methods, it is difficult to perform at a high level. Many in Customer Service were unapproachable Poor communication, if any, from managers. No feedback. Customers were often very upset and it seemed like some agents were inconvenienced. Unwilling to help older customer who was deemed old and not technically savvy. Rather than assisting them, they cut them off short. Some agents were rude and condescending to customers. No communication to employees from immediate managers. Talked about promotion but no clear path or plans. Not an open door policy culture at all. Very clique like Open office and very distracting and difficult to hear clients on the phone. On the surface a casual culture but overly political with very little communication among departments or within departments with managers. One employee was exceptionally unkind and rude to me while others stood by. Unacceptable No communication regarding performance Training was scattered and unorganized No clear policies or standards and asking questions is frowned upon
