Pros

The people here are wonderful - intelligent, hard-working and fun. It's a rather young crowd - you'd be considered "old" if you're in your thirties. It's a great place to learn about channel sales and get exposure to many different vendors. If you lack technical background but want to get your foot in the door in the IT world, this is the place. Most employees use Softchoice as a stepping stone in order to gain enough experience to go elsewhere in the techonolgy sector. Pay is good if you're hitting your plan. On the flipside, if you're not hitting your plan I hope you enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner and not saving for any sort of future!

Cons

It's strange to me that Softchoice would rather not increase base salaries of tenured sales reps in leiu of just hiring new grads out of college. Because of this, most employees are gone at their 2-year mark because they can make much more with another employer. Here's what happens to good sales reps - the first year you're with Softchoice, you make a good deal of money. The next year, they raise your plan by roughly 40% (but barely increase your base). So, you have to work twice as hard to hit your numbers and you ultimately end up making less. This is why everyone jumps ship after their second year.

Advice to Management

You preach that "we're in it for the growth" but it seems like 75% of the company leaves because growth opportunies aren't there at the end of the second year. Even the best sales reps hit a wall due to grossly inflated plans. At this point, they take stock and utilize all the contacts they've made to get a better paying job. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to give good reps a raise than to tell them "good-luck" and simply retrain fresh 22-year olds?

I worked at Softchoice full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture at Softchoice is one to be envied. The people you work with become your family, the fund-raising and team building events make working bearable.

    Cons

There is little work life balance at this company. You are plugged in no matter what role you are in.

    Advice to Management

Plan ahead for the year with clear goals and objectives. Don't Fumble. Recognize your people with no favoritism.
Also your employees have great ideas and want to make the company a better more efficient place with the tools they have. Let them. They are in the 'Trenches', they understand what is at stake.
