I have been working at Sotera Defense Solutions full-time (More than a year)

Pros

-They have a fantastic health plan
-Are very hands off with employees which is great if you don't see work as a social club
-Seem to be good at recruiting good talent for IT positions which makes a person take pride in being a part of the team

Cons

-Some would say hands off is bad

Advice to Management

Don't get a corporate mindset or you start to focus on the bottom line rather than having good employees. You grow business by providing the best people not by cutting corners

I have been working at Sotera Defense Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits - Their medical insurance coverage is the best I've encountered so far in the defense contracting industry with the lowest copay and the most options

More assignments/contracts - with more acquisitions, come more potential work opportunities

People - most of the people in the company are friendly and nice

    Cons

I believe that the focus on growth has gotten out of control over the past few years. As the company bought more companies, many great employees ended up getting laid off because their position was suddenly rendered "redundant" and the "small company" feel/culture started to erode. Yes, growing has its pains but it shouldn't be at the expense of good people. Also, with some contracts there seems to be a major disconnect between the company and the contract itself, making it difficult to air grievances and making the employees feel isolated.

    Advice to Management

Slow down or stop with the acquisitions. Reorganize and restructure the company with the personnel and acquired companies we already have, run with that for a year or so then make adjustments as needed. Too much growth and too much rapid change makes us uneasy, and frustrated

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    Benefits ok. Flex hour schedule.

    Cons

Contract work, no communication from management about future contracts. Once the contract is completed communication stops. Avoidance from management making employees insecure of future work

    Advice to Management

More communication with employees. Try to be more honest about the future.
