As a taxpayer I am extremely disappointed

    Pros

Many of the people ("worker bees") at SA really care about the mission - finding or creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities (PWD). So most of your co-workers are very nice to work with... but share the same misgivings and stress about the company as a whole which negatively effects the entire culture of the company.

    Cons

True "leadership" within the company is non-existent. From the Board of Directors down through all of the senior execs there is no true mission focus. They (and by "they" I mean the executives and senior management) seem to only care about (a) meeting minimum gov't requirements for the AbilityOne program so that they don't lose their only real source of revenue and (b) conserving cash. But they have been failing the A1 mission for a long time - you can see it in their own data. The number of people employed as a result of SA efforts has dropped continually for a decade. The CEO, being a former Navy man, should be ashamed at his self-serving behavior and lack of leadership. A true leader sets an example to follow (this CEO does set an example, but it's more like the example that Donald Trump sets - not one you really want anyone to follow). The CFO is considered a tyrant, openly threatening and the real "power behind the throne". Comments are often made by senior management that reveal how they really feel about the people they are supposed to be helping - they don't like them, they don't respect them and they don't do their jobs to help them; they do their jobs to make big $$ at the expense of tax payers and those they are supposed to be helping - people with disabilities. And while the Board of Directors is populated with respectable and successful non-profit leaders, they appear to be totally ineffectual when it comes to making positive changes or taking necessary actions to correct the corruption of the senior leadership. I've never worked or consulted for a company where the board would not or could not dismiss any senior employee, including the CEO, when it was obvious that they were not working in the best interest of the company (and in this case in the best interest of the COUNTRY). In the short time I was contracting with SA I witnessed first- or second-hand that the SLT (senior "leadership" team) does little more than fight among themselves, cover their butts, play the blame game and make the entire rest of the company very uncomfortable. The entire company knows that the SLT is a joke, and it creates an atmosphere of fear and no-confidence. Without true leadership, the company does not try to be creative about creating jobs (their mission) - in fact they actively quash attempts to expand capability and business opportunities which could dramatically increase jobs for PWD. A company funded by tax payer dollars should be willing to take some risks to make big gains - SA is completely the opposite. I observed the company (CEO) actively reject/refuse/dismiss answering a direct request by the board regarding new business initiatives and potential spin-offs in commercial industries that could have a significant and long-lasting positive impact - I researched the response to that request - it never saw the light of day, and I think it was definitely an option with merit. I could go on, but there is not much value in kicking this dead horse. Until either the board or the A-1 commission steps in and fixes what's wrong with SourceAmerica, it will continue to fail it's mission, become increasingly corrupt and waste tax payer dollars.

    Pros

Mission to help people with disabilities get employment.

    Cons

No need for this company as other companies and federal government can and do all the work. States they are pro-Veterans but this will be negative mark. You will get singled out and pushed out by colleagues don't understand ethics and being a team player.
