I have been working at Southern Careers Institute as an intern

Pros

--instructors care about students
--three different schedules for students to choose from
--classes only last 15 days/most students can graduate within 9mo-1 year
--offer career services to help find a job after graduation

Cons

--expensive for students
--can't transfer credits to other colleges
--no opportunities for advancement
--instructors aren't compensated enough

Advice to Management

--give instructors more of a voice to offer suggestions; be more flexible with students' scheduling (take one class in am and one class in pm); and offer bonuses for instructors with good reviews

I worked at Southern Careers Institute full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The students were really wonderful. They were so eager and fulfilling. It was my pleasure to teach them, when management stayed out of my classroom and let me teach them.

    Cons

Ghetto co-workers who talk like they're sitting on the front porch rather than in a professional environment. Management team who harassed me continually and did so in front of my students.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the micro-management. Get rid of the criminals you have working for you and get a solid, professional team of instructors together. Stop meddling in the classroom and do YOUR job. And when someone complains to HR about the things that went on, get back to them. Don't just sweep it under the rug.
