I worked at Southern States full-time

    Pros

Most of the people you'll work with are great.

    Cons

Company is in major transition at this point, including selling a division and some downsizing. Money is tight and investments in technology are prioritized to those that have a direct, immediate impact on sales and profits.

I have been working at Southern States full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Interesting work.
Good pay (if in a management role)
    Good paid time off.
    Decent benefits.
    Challenging work.
    Flexible schedule.
    Good customers.

    Cons

Low pay if not in management.
No hours for part time workers (trying to keep from having to give part time workers benefits)
Middle management has no idea about what used to make SS money.
Not enough help to keep the store presentable and take care of customers.

    Advice to Management

Do something now or you’ll be out of business soon. Stop hiring middle management that has no business working for an Agricultural based business. You have Assistant Managers that are more qualified than DM’s. Give the store enough help to do the work you require them to do. You want the store clean and no customer complaints but that’s physically impossible with the amount of employees at any given location. When you implement a strategy-stick with it. Quit implementing them and then changing it 2 months into it. And the new computer system is worthless. Yeah, you can do more but all the basic stuff is 100x slower and harder.
