I have been working at Southern Wine & Spirits of America as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

A six week program that takes you behind the scenes of the biggest alcohol distributor in the United States. From broad market (bars, restaurants, liquor stores) to the grocery store chains, you will learn more about alcohol that you ever imagined. I truly enjoyed ever day of the internship, and was offered a full-time position at the end of the summer. If you are currently at a four year University, then I would highly recommend applying for this internship, you wont regret it.

Cons

The only con I can think of is waking up around 5:00am to work with the District Managers in the Chain divisions. Not an everyday thing....

I worked at Southern Wine & Spirits of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This wine & liquor delivery company offers Job security! People will drink in good times AND bad, so the business is pretty much recession-proof!

    Cons

Clique-ish office politics. Only workers at the main hub get recognition like Employee of the Month, while outlying warehouse achievers aren't noticed.

    Advice to Management

The distant warehouses are better work environments because employees are not so heavily scrutinized. The main hub is full of suspicion toward some and favoritism to others.

    "Overworked, underpaid, zero integrity"

I have been working at Southern Wine & Spirits of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good hours, decent benefits, occasional free samples

    Cons

Privately encouraged to embellish case counts and work off the clock, then publicly reprimanded for the behavior, district managers spend more time in meetings and responding to emails then actually managing, the car allowance is absolutely pitiful, almost no overtime approved, unrealistic expectations, no regard for employees, everyone is reminded they're disposable. There is almost no room for advancement unless you "know" somebody.

    Advice to Management

Rethink the training, the car allowance, the amount of suppliers each rep has to satisfy and don't encourage fabricating numbers.
