I worked at Space Systems/Loral full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great benefits, good work life balance, fantastic people to work week

Cons

Employees are not empowered to change. Not willing to innovate. Quality team has too much power, while not qualified, not available, and not held responsible. Basically quality team is no value add. Charge number systems is outdated. Computer system outdated.

Advice to Management

Revamp quality, finance, and process improvement

I have been working at Space Systems/Loral full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very interesting work on various international space (communication satellites) projects with good people with which to work on the projects and flexible hours that are very accommodating to a young family.

    Cons

Frequent ambiguity and shifting roles where managers are pulled away to work on special projects, and interim managers put in place. This can be leveraged to build up the next level of leaders, but often the transition is not handled well and little guidance for the interim managers. Beyond that, there is sometimes a difficult company culture, which they are aware of and trying to change.
