Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at Spirit AeroSystems as a contractor (More than 5 years)

Pros

As an engineering contractor, I was making a pretty good rate. It was fairly close to home so my drive was decent.

Cons

I constantly had to train my managers what I did and they thought they knew my job better than me.

Advice to Management

Please listen to your employees as they are supposed to know their job better than you do.

I have been working at Spirit AeroSystems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary. The core competencies perform very well. Fabrication capability is extraordinary in Wichita for sustaining programs. Lots of Opportunity to try different positions

    Cons

The Tulsa facility is nothing like the Wichita facility. You basically have the same group of Middle managers from the Rockwell/Boeing days running operations in Tulsa. Total chaos and it will always be that way until Spirit cleans up that mess. New Programs completely unable to recover from initial bidding process. No/little fabrication available for expedite situations so you are at the mercy of the suppliers. Losing battle. The opportunity for advancement comes from people quitting.

    Advice to Management

Start over in Tulsa. Give the Operations/Middle managers a "different opportunity". They need it. You have lost money in Tulsa for YEARS....learn from it.

I have been working at Spirit AeroSystems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

many travel opportuniites, including oversears, get to be part of big Boing supplier

    Cons

decrepit facilities, lots of drunks, nobody with an advanced degree (even U of Phoenix types) should ever consider this company, corporation has many financial risks

    Advice to Management

lose the 'tech fellows' - they're all phonies, find out why everyone is so miserable, and get a responsible peer critique system with a core group of real aero engineers going
