    Pros

The best reason to work at Springer was the opportunity to travel and interact with learned and interesting authors, editors, and colleagues around the world. I enjoyed learning about the content areas and developing a network among leaders in the field. Colleagues, at least in the Massachusetts offices, were great to work with, and maintained a family atmosphere.

    Cons

The compensation was meager and the path to career development was extremely unclear. Performance had little impact on career advancement or salary decisions, and employees outside of the major European offices or New York had even fewer opportunities.

    Advice to Management

It is a shame that you are closing the Massachusetts offices, and that you do not see the advantages to retaining and developing committed employees.

    Pros

Overall, it's a great place to work if you enjoy travel and aren't too concerned about compensation or advancement.

    Cons

It's difficult to be promoted from within and the organization is fairly lean. Most of the most significant leadersgip positions are in Europe.

    Advice to Management

Expand opportunities for advancement with a clear career path especially for mid level management.
