I have been working at Sprouts Farmers Market part-time

Pros

15% discount and that's it

Cons

Ive asked many time to be trained so I can become a manager eventually but this company leaves you in the dark and it really pisses me off. I can find whatever I need there and its just as healthy for you. Not worth shopping or working here. You also are expected to do a 110% but they don't pay enough to give that much and they higher under qualified people to be mangers or heads of departments

Advice to Management

train people who want to move up the chain. Don't just cut hours to save the store money

"Looks like a great place to work...at first. 96% turnover rate according to President of Sprouts."

    Pros

Decent starting pay. Healthy food to buy at lunch. Benefits are offered. The new employees are welcomed and have an upbeat attitude. 10% employee discount.

    Cons

Although you may be hired as "Full-Time" your hours will suffer greatly if you ever call in plus management is definitely told to make sure you don't have that 32-hour average so as not to pay the full health insurance premium. Plus, your starting hours maybe 35-40, but then they hire new associates and cut everyone's hours in the process to 25-30. Also, the starting pay is decent but raises are only given after your 6-month review and only 2 employees in our store were given $.50/hr raise. Only the store manager will perform your review with zero input from your supervisors thereby assuring low marks. Performance rating system completely illogical and unfair to all. The President of Sprouts touts a 96% turnover rate and is actually surprised that there may still be an original employee (from when store opened) working there.

    Advice to Management

Train all grocery department on working the cash registers for when things get extremely busy. Show some respect and positive feedback to the red-shirt employees, not just the green-shirted ones. Throw out your current performance rating system as it is obviously used to prevent raises to anyone. Let supervisors do the reviews since they are in direct contact with us every day. Fully train the baggers and stop leaving it up to everyone else to do it!

I worked at Sprouts Farmers Market full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are passionate about what they do. The company started with a great mission, purpose, and values. That seems to have shifted with current leadership team but you can still see/feel the original concept in stores and with front-line staff.
The regular employee discount and specialty discounts are great!
The benefits package greatly improved (although still room to continue to enhance)
Knowledgeable staff (stores and Support) who are passionate about what they do

    Cons

When there is uncertainty or the unknown, people tend to implement more rules or fall back on the rules- and that is the case here. Inexperienced managers rely heavily on whats in black/white rather than using common sense and trying to lead their people. I would say true "leaders" account for less than 10% of the management team company-wide and this is reflected in the overall turnover from Support to frontline. There seems to be clear disdain for employees reflected by the behaviors of some managers ((again frontline and Support and in direct opposition to what is spoken).
There are some great areas/stores/pockets of the org to work in, but overall it felt chaotic most days. Its faced with the common problem of how to evolve quicker than the competitor in a space that is no longer niche and the pressure shows. Communication/transparency is a non-existent.
