I have been working at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good people
Good Earned Time Off accrual
Stays true to mission statement

Cons

Third CEO in less about a year and a half. This creates an atmosphere of instability. It also makes the employees hesitant to trust administration which can hinder growth. Trying their hardest to remain independent, which is valiant, but seems like they would benefit from absorption/consolidation.

"Paid Holidays" are taken out of Earned Time Off whether you like it or not. As are sick days. Also, the amount of sick days allowed, at a hospital where you are around sick patients all the time, is laughable.

Advice to Management

Recognize that employee morale, loyalty, trust is at rock bottom and focus on fixing it pronto. Most who will tell you otherwise are either lying because they are scared, or don't know what's going on. Getting rid of the people everyone knows are causing problems will help with most issues.

    Pros

    Staff try hard, work hard.

    Cons

Staff are unimportant to management. So long as minimum standards are met, nothing more is important--other than not complaining.

    Advice to Management

    Just about everyone should quit.

I worked at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The physicians and support staff are easy to work with

    Cons

There are no incentives, no raises, no room for advancement. Management appears to make constant changes on a whim. Nursing is routinely short staffed to the point of becoming dangerous.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and then work together to make the medical center a safe place for patients and staff
