I have been working at St. Anthony's Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good people
Good Earned Time Off accrual
Stays true to mission statement

Cons

Third CEO in less about a year and a half. This creates an atmosphere of instability. It also makes the employees hesitant to trust administration which can hinder growth. Trying their hardest to remain independent, which is valiant, but seems like they would benefit from absorption/consolidation.

"Paid Holidays" are taken out of Earned Time Off whether you like it or not. As are sick days. Also, the amount of sick days allowed, at a hospital where you are around sick patients all the time, is laughable.

Advice to Management

Recognize that employee morale, loyalty, trust is at rock bottom and focus on fixing it pronto. Most who will tell you otherwise are either lying because they are scared, or don't know what's going on. Getting rid of the people everyone knows are causing problems will help with most issues.

"If you get injured, just resign"

    Pros

good work schedule with experience, great insurance benefits, decent pay, accumulate PTO quickly, advancement opportunities, a pension plan, the possibility of college assistance

    Cons

Any employee that is injured on the job might as well resign immediately. I have seen numerous employees be 'forced' out because they became a liability. As long as you stay healthy, you have a job.
