My boss is great. Others are not so great.

Cons

All the typical problems but not as bad as other hospitals; pay is not good compared to west coast.

Advice to Management

keep working; you are going the right direction; stand up for nurses; improve on nurse autonomy in some areas.

    Pros

There is real purpose in the work and the culture of the hospital is consistent, high quality and remarkably supportive of excellence. I have never met so many bright, committed employees in one business. Over the last few years, the facilities have almost doubled in size, new services and equipment have been added, and the workforce has grown almost 20%, at the same time the attention to detail and close relationships with staff and patients have stayed the same. People take the time to say hello, notice when visitors are lost or need information, and go out of their way to be sure patients and their families are reassured. There is an atmosphere of calm, even though staff are busy and doing critical bedside care. This conveys confidence to everyone that health is on the way.

    Cons

Administrative departments are understaffed and IT is way behind in hardware and software systems.

    Advice to Management

Pay closer attention to the salary ranges that are not comparable to other NY area hospitals and large non-profits. All employees at SFH deserve equitable pay - not just the nurses.

I have been working at St Francis Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The hospital is busy which makes staff to learn a lot of skills,it is near to high way and staffs are allowed to go to school and up grade our knowledge.

    Cons

when staff comes back from school, they don't recognize there qualifications, instead they keep on frustrating them, like they can accommodate a new member of staff who is junior, leaving the old member of staff who has saved the hospital in various departments and with higher qualifications as compared to a new staff.

    Advice to Management

The management should try to treat members staff on merits, and not on social grounds or any connection or religion.
