I have been working at St. Jude Medical full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great people to work with.

Cons

- Lower pay compared to ALL other medical device companies.
- Not only is upper management disorganized, there is no defined set criteria (mainly due to the new director).
- Choose favorites without recognizing performance.
- Allocation of money is horribly spent by increasing temporary positions with an intent to use and fire after contract duration.
- Reporting criteria is archaic and is not abiding by modern CFR regulatory regulations.
- Job is highly stressful with minimal pay.
- Literally have to fake it to make it. I highly recommend finding another career opportunity elsewhere.

Advice to Management

INVEST in a unified database and don't work your muscle by hiring excessive workers. Stop choosing favorites and decide based on PERFORMANCE.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at St. Jude Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Quality products
    2. Mostly quality people in manufacturing, sales, and mid-level management
    3. Positive perception by most outsiders (they don't know any better)

    Cons

    1. Very arrogant posture and attitude in (many) senior managers (VP and above)
    2. Chronically understaffed in key functional areas
    3. Refusal to acknowledge that a particular course of action is not working and (that) the strategy needs to change
    4. Commonly use some divisions as cash cows to fund other more-favored divisions, e.g. profits from cardiac surgery products fund certain new play toys in cardiology
    5. Senior management is very much a good ol' boys club
    6. It is not uncommon for a senior manager to be fired and then re-deployed into another area so he can wreak further havoc on the new, unsuspecting employees

    Advice to Management

Get off your i-phone and Blackberries. Go work with your employees. Figure out what they do. Try to give them some useful feedback.
