Pros

The pay in the in room dining department is very good and it is probably to easiest section of the hotel to work in.

Cons

The management is a little intense and the guests can be obnoxiously conceited

Advice to Management

Require your senior management to go on maternity leave as their hormones negatively affect the work place

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

The St Julien is a beautiful, 4-star property, it is aesthetically a superior property and draws a high end clientele. If you work hard the St Julien will recognize this (not monetarily) and the recommendations will give you an edge in the job market. Think of this as putting in your time as low man on the totem pole, get some experience and then leave.

    Cons

Unfortunately, due to sub-par wages, this hotel suffers from high turn over, lower quality employees are retained (while exceptional ones are lured to other properties or better opportunities). It seems that a large chunk of each department is always in training and thus quality of service suffers.

    Advice to Management

Consider ways to retain and reward excellent employees and look for candidates that are committed to hospitality, not ones that are looking for a cheap afterschool job, that's always reflected in their service skills.

    Pros

Great management, amazing benefits, absolute growth potential, the ability to learn a lot, & amazing exposure to the hospitality industry. Also great employees!

    Cons

The hours can be a bit rough to get used to. Great to decide whether you are a morning person or an evening person before starting this job.
