    Pros

The kids and families you assist are wonderful and the support from co-workers is great. Definitely a team atmosphere. This organization is not a day care facility and most children have mild to moderate behavioral problems and need one on one attention and TLC. There is an aspect of child care along with a social work mix. If you love kids and are passionate about preventing abuse this is a great place to start.

    Cons

Most people leave due to the somewhat dysfunctional management team. Tends to take things too personal and has unrealistic expectations of staff. A few people wreak havoc on the rest of the staff. It is a stressful work environment as far as supporting families living in chronic poverty and taking care of children who are at risk of being abused or neglected. Management team makes stress level much greater.

    Advice to Management

Look for the positive in the staff rather than the negative. Treat the staff as you do the clients and your donors. Trust your staff to make good decisions and support them. Everyone pretty much leaves here in time because of the dysfunctional leadership although most have loved the job.
