I worked at St. Vincent Health as an intern (Less than a year)

Great environment, coworkers. A very supportive atmosphere.

Cons

it was a really great experience, but sometimes upper management seemed unavailable.

Advice to Management

none, keep doing what you have been doing.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Wonderful benefits and even programs to provide insurance to employees during financial hardship. The spirit and mission are worth believing in.

    Cons

The compensation was very poor. Some might consider other benefits as adequate overall compensation. There was not much ability to move up and lots of people were being let go at the time (2010).

    Advice to Management

Learn to use resources to their fullest: staff, time, funds. Wasting a staff member's time on an in-service training that was already done a month ago is a poor use of time and funds (overtime).

    Pros

The hours are good in my position I only work what I have agreed to in my position. Insurance is offered to part-time employees. Doctors and staff work well together. The hospital is in a good location for daily commute to work. Education for staff is available on site for certification in advanced roles. Overall a good and fair employer.

    Cons

Cost of living raises are rare and have not occurred for years. As usual staffing needs to be increased. Mandatory overtime is hidden in on-call being added to the employee schedule. This is in my department, I am not sure how other areas handle this.

    Advice to Management

Performance raises and cost of living are two entirely different entities.
