Negative Outlook

I worked at Standard Chartered Bank as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Equally victimized colleagues to talk to!

Cons

Dead Senior team, does nothing, but chit-chat, and draw their salaries. Even a suggestion is not taken up and nothing done any day. Very sluggish team specially senior HR Team. There was no desk or docking station when I arrived thrilled to work the first day. For at the whole 4 months, I was without one, and was told to use those desks which were empty due to vacation staff or absent ones. If anyone suddenly turned up, I was asked to move! It was such horrible time there. Another girl who joined newly had no chair to sit, and I watched her stand and work. Terrible scene it was. We then together went around to see for any empty cabins, which we did for the lat week of our contracts.

Advice to Management

If you dont change yourselves, the bank is crashing for sure! Ask the grey hairs to retire, and recruit young sensible, active staff!

I worked at Standard Chartered Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

workload is reasonable and working environment is pleasant. Resources sharing is satisfactory and support from cross functions are easy to gain. Work life balance is easier to obtain.

    Cons

For fresh graduates, better enter via trainee program. Otherwise, promotion & career development might be slower. For junior staff, bonus potential is quite limited.
