I have been working at Stanford University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great university resources, salary based on education, pretty campus, LGBT friendly, modern equipment in work environment, as well as being a reputable and prestigious university.

    Cons

There are not many downsides to working at such a credible institution. It may be a bit hard to get some research noticed within the local community, but chances are it won't be a problem to publish an article in Cell or Nature. The local community has a high cost of living expense, but the university tries to compensate for it.
