I worked at Stanford University full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

You get to meet many leaders in many disciplines. Any position at Stanford can easily be used to establish contacts in a desired field.

Cons

The administration is growing without any active discernment, and it wastes a lot of money. Look out for people who get their foot in and then try to bring in nepotistic connections for positions.

I worked at Stanford University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

very good and friendly colleagues to work with. Lots of americans on the department that I worked for and teammates help other team members a lot. At times, tasks are very challenging, and it will be good experience to learn rapid multitasking and improve productivity. monthly get togethers with the team, free drinks and lots of snacks during the afternoon time that is shared by other team members. overall, a very different experience to work here.

    Cons

Framework developed is used internally, and learning the framework takes time. lots of dynamic setup of the code, understanding all the pieces will be difficult for new developers, so networking with colleagues is really important here. Lots of multitasking on a single day, and compensation is low for the new developers with less experience. salary increase is low for developers.

Heart of Silicon Valley. Cutting edge research

    Cons

Cost of living in Silicon Valley is really high, so the pay is not actually very much.
