Pros

Great people, some innovation, the chance to take on new responsibilities. Wide array of event formats. Ability to introduce some change.

Cons

So-so pay. No upward mobility. No incentive. People who do nothing get treated almost the same as those who work incredibly hard and care about their work.

Advice to Management

Don't focus on the position focus on the person. Being told we don't look at the person, doesn't motivate.

I have been working at Stanford University full-time

    Pros

They give you a bus and a train pass. They also provide excellent benefits. It also helps that the campus is beautiful and the weather is great.

    Cons

Traffic can be pretty rough, especially during rush-hour times (i.e. 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM). There is a lot of construction going on as well. Can't really say it's poor in any other area.

    Advice to Management

Provide regular feedback to employees, take the time to talk to others

  2. "The BEST academic institution"

I have been working at Stanford University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The students are amazingly bright and challenge you to be your best. They are the strongest asset. Colleagues are at the top of their fields across a wide range of disciplines. The campus is beautiful, with a relaxed, laid-back culture. The area has the, best weather in US. Support staff are generally competant and helpful. Physical facilities are great.

    Cons

Decisions often seem to bd made by insiders. Processes are sometimes not as open as they seem.

    Advice to Management

Spend more money at home on academics. Stop building for 5 minutes.
