I worked at Stanford University full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Very flexible work hours and some nice benefits

Cons

Most political place you will ever work and suprisingly very unethical. HR is only worried about being sued, which happens frequently. Layoffs are by just cause which leads to entitlement of employees and very little output.

Advice to Management

Realize how unethcial of an organization you have created.

    Pros

Flexibility for employees, strong school spirit and a dedicated focus from all employees on providing a great education to students

    Cons

Stanford has a lot of employees who have been there a long while so sometimes one gets the impression that it is difficult for new employees to move up the ladder.
