I worked at Stanford University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid for my tuition to attend graduate school full-time
The small living stipend provided for basic living expenses and allowed me to live on campus
I learned a lot on the job and had formal training as well.

    Cons

The job was stressful at times (what jobs aren't?)
There were a lot of areas I didn't feel adequately knowledgeable about and it didn't seem like there was a good resource to go to.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for individual career planning/training, for example cross-training between TAs

I have been working at Stanford University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits & access to Stanford resources e.g., professional development resources, BeWell health initiatives, CalTrain GOPass, etc.

    Cons

Limited career progression i.e., promotion into a higher-level position. Salary is bounded based on position so with lack of promotion opportunities, ceiling is much lower than in industry and is often hit.

    Advice to Management

Increasing bureaucracy e.g., re-vamped but more convoluted performance evaluation system.
