SBD provides plenty of opportunity to learn and grow as an Engineer. They provide ample educational opportunities. Leaders are always willing to give feedback and discuss projects.
Cons
Some of the equipment could use upgrades. (Modernization is typically a challenge for most established companies.)
Runs too lean and expects everyone to take on 4 extra jobs without even paying competitive wages to begin with, let alone if you take on extra work.
Won’t backfill. will just run your team to exhaustion.
Refuses to commit to their promises around People & Technology. won’t hire more heads to help take overwork off people and also keeps canceling or pushing back any projects.
Leadership cycles so much that you can’t keep up with who is doing what and who to go to.
Tells people they care about work life balance but does nothing to support people actually having the bandwidth to maintain a healthy work life balance without worrying you’ll be called out for not getting tasks finished.
Systems are from the 90s/early 2000s and a pain to use.
Worst IT I’ve ever seen. I would expect more from such a large and established company. You can’t even get your work done, then are expected to work over because it didn’t get done due to delays around IT and systems inefficiency.
