Pros

Name recognition: people have heard of Staples, and you can build good customer relations if you're in the right area.

Cons

More concerned with upselling service plans than meeting customer wants and needs. Got to the point where the manager deemed it an issue and wanted to speak with me if I sold any computer or printer without a plan, even if the customer themselves had told me I did a great job helping them find what they wanted.

Advice to Management

It's called Staples and you sell office supplies. If you want to compete with the likes of Frys and Best Buy change your name to Cables. Btw, your service plans for computers are seriously overpriced.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Decent medical, dental and eye coverage after 90 days employment
    Time off is usually given
    10% off all employee purchases

    Cons

insulting customers, pay is low, bonuses and raises are a joke, hard to move up, management is apathetic

    Advice to Management

Give decent raises, my raise was 6 cents after six months. The customer is not ALWAYS right. Management get raises if customer satisfaction surveys are good each month. The employees make that happen. Recognize them. The corporate feel of the place is the worst thing. People are treated as robots. Selling tactics they encourage are dirty and deceitful, especially aimed towards elderly customers.

    Pros

You deal with many customers at a time and you can develop an extensive business network for when you want to look for a new job.

    Cons

No chance of moving up in the company unless a new store opens up to someone quits. Management doesn't want to support your upward movement by giving you training chances.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees the ability to move up in the company without management trying to hold them down. When an employee puts in for a new position, lock out the management from "writing up" the employee.
