I have been working at Staples full-time (More than a year)

Pros

I have been fortunate to work with great people, and ive been to three different stores with similar experiences. Staples does a great job training.

Cons

Inability to promote our store to bring people in.

Advice to Management

Need to move faster. If staples is to be a name for technology distribution, they need to work on getting new products in their store faster.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

One of the few companies that seem to actually care about their customers.
Store management and employees were very nice as long as you put in a fair effort at what you do.

    Cons

Not much room for career growth even though they'll tell you that there is, especially if you're an Easy Tech
You'll be pressured to sell addons and product warranties even if they really don't benefit the customer.
Very cheap. You'll have to fight tooth and nail for a yearly pay increase of a quarter of you're lucky. Health benefits were slashed considerably right before I eventually left the company.

    Advice to Management

Made a better effort to keep and reward your talent. This means paying them a fair wage. Staples seems to be more than satisfied with letting their experienced employees walk once the reach a certain pay rate and then just replacing them with new inexperienced minimum wage employees. In the long run it's the customer who loses out because experienced and knowledgeable employees become few and far between. Again, this is especially the case in Easy Tech.
