I worked at Staples part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Flexible
coworkers were awesome.
company is refocusing to tech.
It was a good job to have while i was in high school

Cons

Management was very wishy washy, they did not care about their employees much at all. Minimum wage for a job that was paying double in other companies. they did not understand how PC repair works and would step into the process all the time.

Advice to Management

Up your salaries to PC Techs and give them room to do what they do best.

I have been working at Staples part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great employee perks, Good pay rates as well as many opportunities to move forward. Been working in retail for a while and staples has been the only place that has ever had given so many opportunities to move forward so quickly a great place to get a strong foothold in a building company.

    Cons

Stressfull when everyone looks to the next guy in line to be accountable for something. Not enough staffing causes several days of working past the time to get off , or have to work though my 15 min. breaks nothing too bad just frusturating at times.

    Advice to Management

not more stores more associates in a store so not just 1 person is running a department by themselfs too much room for error.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've worked at three different stores, all in the same district and I've found each store really is like a family. Closeness and good company have always made my years at Staples enjoyable.

    Cons

Being pro-active and taking initiative is not always rewarded the way it should be. In my experiences, it earned me the responsibility to keep everything in check, including my lead and fellow co-workers, without a higher pay or position in sight. I was expected to "do" much more work than everyone else. It was unfair.

    Advice to Management

Set a bar of expectation that EVERYONE must meet and if they don't, enforce consequences. Treat your employees fairly and make sure they are responsible for their own work and job titles.
