Advice to Management

Staples runs too many confusing promotions which frustrate customers and waste everyone's time. Instead of issuing cashback and ink rewards on a quarterly basis, customers would appreciate it more if it was instant. Most people are not willing to wait months for their rewards benefits which makes them less likely to sign up and less likely to come back.
The computers are ridiculously slow and are running on ten year old operating systems (windows xp). We need faster point of sales systems so we can look up information and sell products more efficiently.
Too many cheap products are placed in security boxes. Eliminating the security box requirement for low valued items will save man hours and money. Many of these items have embedded security sensors in them anyways. Associates will be able to assist customers instead of putting thousands of items in plastic boxes. The amount of money saved by eliminating boxes on low cost items could greatly outweigh the amount of money lost to retail theft.

I have been working at Staples part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

decent pay, great people to work with, decent hours but mananagable, Was able to talk to managers when an issue arised and have the issue dealt with.

    Cons

Dealing with customers was sometimes a let down because the customers would be rude or irate because their computers didn't work and they expected you to be the one to fix them even though you tell them all you can do is send them off.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Staples offers great products at very competitive prices. They have a basis and a good customer following.

    Cons

Staples is trying to go after everything and not specializing on anything. As a result, they do not have a main area of focus.

Training is also an area with little to be desired.

They say that they are customer service oriented, but have cut staffing back so much that customer service suffers.
