I worked at Staples part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, flexible hours, working in the Tech Center can be a fun puzzle, music is pretty quiet, overtime when staying to close.

    Cons

Lots of lifting, alarms go off every 30 min, loud ladders (locking mech), sales-driven management that do nothing except pressure associates constantly, rude customers, terrible inventory program (AS400). One day customers were waiting 1.5 hr to get their computers from the Tech Center while General Manager hid in his office on a phone call about making more sales...lost many customers that day since GM wouldn't hand off his keys to unlock the Tech Bench. Backwards thinking because of corporate pressure. Cashiers selling BTS passes and Ink passes is unnecessary and strange.

    Advice to Management

Worry more about associate happiness and customer satisfaction rather than pressuring everyone with numbers all day.
