I worked at Starbucks full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Fast paced so the day goes by pretty fast, fun environment, plenty of perks, easiest job i ever had. All you need to bring to work is a smile and a good memory. Great chances for fast opportunity growth

Cons

A lot of drinks to remember, tips givin to you are shared amongst all employees, ideal for college and/or high school students

Advice to Management

Have a chart put up with how to make each drink

    I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexibility; great atmosphere; good coffee; lots of chances to learn; benefits even for part time employees; a company that cares about sourcing ethically coffee; a company that treats its workers with respect; recognizes excellence in job performance and customer service, and provides opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

    Shifts can be tough, it can be difficult to remain composed while dealing with dozens of customers, expectations are very high for store sanitation and cleanliness, there is a high turnover rate - have to adjust to new coworkers regularly.

    Advice to Management

    Provide more incentives for lower level employees - promote more rapidly.

    Pros

    nice benefits for baristas who have a family, retirement 401k plan, and employee stock purchase plan

    Cons

    younger baristas are not professional, hard place to work if you are not in the cliques formed at each store; tough opening hour shifts

    Advice to Management

    Follow Apple's lead and give $4 wage increases to all the baristas!
