I have been working at Starbucks full-time

    Pros

Work/Life Balance is great as finance calendar is predictable and expected deliverables are known well in advance. People are generaly friendly and helpful. Company is generally doing well which means long term growth potential is good.

    Cons

Training and career development are practically non-existent. When you arrive you are on your own to determine your role and drive your career advancement. Finance and accounting is more focused on reporting and variance analysis and less on strategy and upstream analysis.

    Advice to Management

In order to attract finance professionals from top tier companies, you'll need to develop a stronger finance development program and show that finance is a business partnering function rather than simply a reporting/support function.
