I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good people to work with, straightforward tasks, and personally close to home.

Cons

Too many hires, not enough hours, sporadic scheduling, and a manager who can't be bothered to be on the floor.

Advice to Management

Instead of hiring new people every time someone quits, ask around for the people who have been complaining about a lack of hours.

"I have been here for about 5 months, the pay is low, very stressful work environment, and I wouldn't recommend this job."

I have been working at Starbucks part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -It's a job.
-Free 1 LB coffee bean markout every week (about 11-15$ worth a per bag)
    -Free drinks while working
    -30% Discount while not working
    -Pretty good retirement and benefits
-They have a college refund program, but it isn't that great
    -Discount of Starbucks Stock
-My manager is flexible with my schedule

    Cons

-Scheduling is all over the place
    -No guaranteed hours
    -Extremely stressful work environment
-Takes about 2 months to get comfortable with the whole buisness, but you get 1-2 weeks of training (which is mostly watching videos and getting the whole "why starbucks is sooo great" lecture)
-The company is transitioning to this new system called "playbook" which is absolutely dreadful, AVOID stores that are running or beta running this. You will hate life.
-Gets extremely tedious, BR2 (the routine for making drinks) has to be followed to the bone, and it needs an update
-They change things literally every week
-QAZA regulations are necessary but they suck from a Batista viewpoint
-Everything is overpriced, and customers complain alot
-You will need to memorize the names and drinks of your daily customers, this could be anywhere from 50 people to over 400 at some locations.
-The customers are spoiled, retarded, and will argue with you. They always try to get free stuff.

-This is not an easy job, its not just "make coffee and talk to people"
-Pay is garbage. 7-10$ for a barista, 10-15$ per hour for a shift manager. everything above these positions is actually decent salary.

    Advice to Management

Playbook doesn't work, stop being cheap and staff better.

I have been working at Starbucks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast pace, great people to work with. Able to make decisions creatively and on the fly. Good access to benefits. Flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Management tends to not take risks or responsibility. Great place if you have a pro-active manager. Less than stellar pay.

    Advice to Management

Be less passive. Put customer service and partner support ahead of bottom line sales goals. Take a step back and slow down the growth. You are alienating both partnersnand customers.
