I have been working at Starbucks full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

I love the people I work with!
The discount
Free bean stock

Cons

Customers treat you like crap
The pay is awful for how much work is expected of you
Schedules are ridiculous. I'll be scheduled to close and be off work at 1030pm and back thenext day at 6am

Advice to Management

Remember that we are the face of your company. We work way too hard to get paid so little.

I have been working at Starbucks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits like health insurance for 20+ hours, bean stock, tuition reimbursement and not to mention a free pound of beans every week.

    Cons

District Management is pretty far removed from the little people. In the last few years, Starbucks has gone pretty crazy with sales goals. They didn't used to be that competitive because they didn't feel they had to. I guess they do now. It's seemingly hard to develop past shift supervisor. They hire in a lot of store managers from other companies.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the potential talent you have right in front of your face before you hire someone from the outside for management. You want passion? Give us a chance to succeed and you will see passion.

I worked at Starbucks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dedicated team members, good benefits, responsive corporate staff.

    Cons

    Demoralizing write ups and micro-management.

    Advice to Management

Local DM's need training on how to positively motivate team members and store managers. They focus too much on what's wrong and not on what's going well. Encouragement goes a long way in having dedicated employees.
