I have been working at Starbucks full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

It's a very fast paced environment with outlets for creativity. They provide excellent benefits and a flexible schedule. Most if the employees are fun and easy going but they know how together work done. This is a job for a multitasker.

Cons

Often times upper management adds to the workload without increasing hours to match the labor needs, leading to overworked employees. Also, it is near impossible to reach a management position, regardless of your feats. It seems they only hire externally OR promote people who know how to smooth talk, without the ability to back it up.

Advice to Management

You've got tremendous potential to be an even more profitable company with the happiest employees around. HOWEVER, learn to recongnize your internal talent and build on that. Hiring externally leads to stores who meet numbers but fail health and safety standards and sacrifice product quality due to a severe lack of knowledge.

I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Depending on the store, you might have the joy of working with great people. It's decent pay with tips, stocks and health benefits, and a performance review/raise every six months. Easy work once you understand it all.

    Cons

Incredibly stressful, exhausting, and soul-sucking. Customers can be ridiculously rude (all for a 3$ cup of coffee, but I've definitely seen people get BEYOND furious over 60 cents). Depending on the store, your manager might be an incompetent, rude and inconsiderate human being. Long hours of hard work, and all for a meager minimum wage pay rate. And customers don't tip very well either.

    Advice to Management

Please focus more on partners and employees from store to store rather than making sure we make a quota.

Pretty much everything else that does not include the three statements from above.
