I worked at Starbucks full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great great training
Promotion opportunities up to SM level
Flexible hours
Benefits
Customers

Cons

Young, unprofessional employees
NO promotional opportunities above SM
Somewhat unattainable goals
Dealing with people at their worst

Advice to Management

Stir the pot a little with your DMs. It's a running joke that you'll never get promoted to DM unless one dies. You get stuck with one that's been in the same area for 20 years and its stifling.

I worked at Starbucks part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Making the customers feel happy when they come in and order, especially when you can make their drinks faster than the time it takes to walk to the bar! A lot of different people to work with! Hours are cool especially if you're going to school! Oh not to mention the dfree drinks you get and mark out every week!

    Cons

Sometimes you can be on the floor with one other person during a wave of people. Breaks are short, 10 minute break and 1/2 hour meal.

    Advice to Management

Listen to baristas more often and have managers actually on the floor trying to help out!

  2. "Good place to gain experience while in school, but don't get too comfortable and get trapped."

I have been working at Starbucks part-time

    Pros

Benefits for part-timers, free drinks, easy to climb the ladder (to an extent)

    Cons

Mind-numbing, demands you to be overly subservient to customers, frequently disorganized/chaotic management

    Advice to Management

Make the promotion process much more difficult. Too many incompetent and/or clueless baristas slip through the cracks to the upper ranks.
