I worked at Starbucks part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The work is easy, you get unlimited coffee while you're on shift, and the atmosphere is very laid-back. It can be a lot of fun if you get along with your co-workers.

Cons

Quality of management really depends on the store. Some stores may have cool managers that allow for some freedom and a spirited work environment, others will have drill-sergeant robots that follow all the rules to the letter, regardless of whether or not they make sense.

Advice to Management

Remember - people go to Starbucks for the atmosphere. Keep your employees happy, and they'll nurture that environment naturally.

I worked at Starbucks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee pilfering is at an all time low. Workers are engaged and really love what they are doing. Managers are supportive and kind,

    Cons

The hours are randomizated. For the most part I worked as an opener and that's at 5 am, but sometimes I'll work nights then get assigned a opener shift the get day.

    Pros

Fun learning how to make drinks and senior barista took time to teach about coffee and food pairings. Loved the free coffee!

    Cons

Assigned shifts were unpredictable - sometimes had to come in at like 6 in the morning to prep for the day.
