I have been working at Starbucks full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When it was good, it was great. The culture, the music, the coffee. Now it has become a typical "try everything" and be master of none when before we concentrated on coffee and pastries. I mean we will be making carbonated soda drinks soon. The culture has been lost.

    Cons

Too many new product lines and it simply is not working. There is space issues and no more labor to execute this new line.

    Advice to Management

Remember the respect and dignity piece? Where did that go?

I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours are usually met, paid-vacation accumulates after one year of working, tips based on performance of everyone, fellow baristas are some of the best people to work with, customers are very loyal and you will often see hundreds of the same faces every day, when you request off you are more than likely guaranteed to get that day(s) off, paid time and a half for working holidays.

    Cons

Stores are usually understaffed, when one person doesn't show everyone struggles, customers want more than what we can offer most of the time (they want more speed, friendliness, better taste ALL AT ONCE etc.), baristas are usually undertrained, very very fast-paced environment (especially during morning and afternoon peak-hours), disorganized, often times chaotic to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Better leadership is needed. There needs to be a line drawn between management and employees. Managers need to lay out better expectations of employees other than the impossible. Better deployment is needed overall to ensure employee and customer satisfaction. Time is not used as appropriately and efficiently as it could be.
