"Fun, For Part- Time Seekers"

Pros

Free coffee!! Learning about coffee types and production is interesting. There is a strenuous hiring process (therefore good, friendly co- workers.)

Cons

The pay is not great, and usually they only want part- time people because management and shift supervisors are full- time, leaving very limited need for other full- time employees.

Advice to Management

A pay increase for baristas is pretty necessary; even college students can't live on that, even after the tips, which vary and can be very little.

I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours are usually met, paid-vacation accumulates after one year of working, tips based on performance of everyone, fellow baristas are some of the best people to work with, customers are very loyal and you will often see hundreds of the same faces every day, when you request off you are more than likely guaranteed to get that day(s) off, paid time and a half for working holidays.

    Cons

Stores are usually understaffed, when one person doesn't show everyone struggles, customers want more than what we can offer most of the time (they want more speed, friendliness, better taste ALL AT ONCE etc.), baristas are usually undertrained, very very fast-paced environment (especially during morning and afternoon peak-hours), disorganized, often times chaotic to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Better leadership is needed. There needs to be a line drawn between management and employees. Managers need to lay out better expectations of employees other than the impossible. Better deployment is needed overall to ensure employee and customer satisfaction. Time is not used as appropriately and efficiently as it could be.

I worked at Starbucks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun team if you get hired in to a good team store
    Coffee
Fun customers, if you get hired in to a good area store

    Cons

    Caffeine addiction can happen
You could end up with a terrible team
    Pay is not that great

    Advice to Management

Baristas and Shift Supervisors should really get paid more. Invest more in store manager for better quality management and store operation
