Pros

Hospitality! Great brands! Field organization can be very rewarding.

Cons

Current leadership team is in sustain mode taking advantage of the strong talent before them.
Marketing team lacks leadership. Personalization, blah, blah, blah. The innovation left this company when Barry departed. Starwood became Marriott under the current leadership team rather than differentiating and building upon it's heritage, unique brands. Infighting among top SVP level associates weighs heavily on their teams. Director level executives become the sacrificial lambs. So many unhappy people in Stamford...

Advice to Management

Keep telling yourself Starwood is "innovative"

    -Growth opportunities
    -Great atmosphere
    -Benefits (discounted hotel rooms)
    -Fun team

    Cons

    -Odd hours
    -Nights and weekends
    -This hotel was going through remodeling so we had to deal with a lot of customer complaints
    -Uniforms were uncomfortable

    Advice to Management

    -Show appreciation to your employees more often

    I have been working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay has been equal if not a tad above what the local market is paying out to workers in my position.
    Management has shown they ability to grow in the company by sending workers through different associate developement type programs.

    Cons

    Lack of support from managers, lack of team work between different departments.

    Advice to Management

    Communication and team work are the top things we can work on. Bring back tuition assistance for college students!
