No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

Pros

great benefits, so many possibilities of career direction, staff fun to work with

Cons

not many....have to be flexible in schedule, and some locations slow down in business so much that hours can be cut during slow weeks. that's usually only a few weeks out of the year if you're in one of those locations

Advice to Management

keep moving forward with new ideas and building relationships with associates

I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people with whom to work. Relaxed but motivating atmosphere. Supervisors friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Great hours. Great perks from promotions partners (many of Orlando's largest parks). Great brand and sales training. Fun environment. Management very willing to help with your career steps within the company.

    Cons

Quality of owner/owner referral sales leads was limited (often noticed recycled leads -- contacts we'd already pitched a few weeks ago). Best quality (easiest sale) leads went to most experienced call center sales reps, so it's very hard to "get out of a sales rut." Job security also very dependent on the economy -- very volatile -- as travel is always one of the first things to be eliminated from a household's budget. Can work harder than anyone else but still not see fruits of your labor in pay.

    Advice to Management

Have empathy toward genuinely hard-working sales reps in a tough, down-economy travel landscape by means of less strict written/verbal warning policies surrounding set quotas. That pressure is dispiriting.
