I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Meet many new people. Opportunity for front line to take care of guests and not rely on a manager, great training programs, amazing hotels, pay is better then other companies

Cons

benefits are better at other companies, some hotels do not meet expectations due to rennovation needs,.

Advice to Management

Keep hiring good managers and look for refurbishment opportunities and Starwood will continue to be an elite place to work.

    Pros

Comfortable place to work. Expectations are achievable with a good team enviornment. Smaller departments so everytone who worked their knew each other.

    Cons

Not good orientation. I didn't know most of the perks we offered our guests. Doesn't provide up to date info for employees to pass on to their guests

    Advice to Management

Be more open to employees. Be more real with emplo0yees and don't come off as an over achiever or that you are better than everyone else.

I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salaries are good in comparison to the industry; however, expect 55-60hrs per week.

    Cons

Extremely long Hours, Short-Staffed in nearly all areas, no training, lack of Communication from upper management, short notice for following week's schedule (usually 1-2 days), unorganized and no appreciation from upper management (quick to point out flaws and no credit for job well done).

    Advice to Management

Hire strategically, watch for burnout among your managers and employees, be more visible and create ways to show appreciation and develop standardized training programs for new hires.
