Pros

My perspective is a little different since I interned with State Farm. I thought the internship was great. I got paid well and the hours were very flexible. There were also many extracurricular activities for employees that I participated in. I was on an Ultimate Frisbee team and I had a paid trip to Six Flags with the rest of the interns. The intern housing was also a good experience.

Cons

The feedback from management was a little questionable. Sometimes it felt like I was unimportant, even though I knew I was. I did get to meet many members of upper management, which was a unique experience.

Advice to Management

Make sure interns are fully involved, not just with work but also with team and mentor meetings.

Good work/life balance and short commute. People are good to work with.

    Cons

Too much red tape - hard to get anything done

    Advice to Management

    Trust is cheap

    Pros

flexibility, brand recognition, work/life balance, and job security.

    Cons

No management/ executive training programs, limited information provided to associates, pitiful pay for a fortune 50 company, and minimal communication between departments. $6 billion in profits don't seem to filter down very far. Morale is normally very low as most people feel no importance to the company whatsoever.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay, profit sharing, 100% health care coverage, and treat employees as people rather than a statistic. Senior management expects #1 service, but they don't want to pay for it or show any appeciation for it.
