I have been working at State Farm part-time (More than a year)

Pros

You never have to choose between your ethics and your job. Benefits are excellent. Excellent job security.

Cons

The pay is not astounding. Management can be a bit conservative and it's giving them trouble in trying to adapt to market changes. Even though they recognize this, they are still making missteps in trying to adapt.

Advice to Management

Be more clear to the lower level employees about future changes instead of sending out hyperactive buzzword filled videos.

I worked at State Farm full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The work schedule was nice - 8:00 - 4:30 pm. If you want a typical schedule that didn't require much time outside of the work day this is a good fit; allows for family/work balance. Always good to be a part of the team that is a leader in the industry.

    Cons

Lots of layers within an organization making it difficult to make progress at times. It became stifling at times to have to answer to multiple bosses. It was a typical cubical environment that was not inspiring or invoked creativity. Lots of familial ties within the organization. Difficult to advance if you were not related to someone internally.

    Advice to Management

Tenure does not always equal skills/capabilities. Micromanagement styles result in team feeling undervalued or not trusted.

I worked at State Farm full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Established company
    Benefits
    Great metro Atlanta location

    Cons

    Poor HOURLY rate of 12.00
Every employee must work either 8 or 11 hours every Saturday
     Serious micro management issues
    Short 15 minute breaks
    People are quitting daily
Most of the employees are loud and unprofessional
    Everyone looks miserable
This place is so bad that even the temps are walking out

    Advice to Management

Increase the pay, adjust the schedule- make it more realistic such as rotating weekends, don't micro manage adults and stop behaving like prison guards and morale will increase and people will stop leaving.
