I worked at State Farm full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced environment, steep learning curve and close relationship to coworkers/agent.

Every agent is slightly different, but State Farm prides itself on being a company that really cares about educating each client to help them make informed decisions about insurance, which I respect to the utmost.

My particular agent was very flexible with schedules and helpful in the learning process.

I have heard from other people who work in corporate of State Farm that job security on that level is very high, although relocating may be necessary if you are looking for a long career within the company.

    Cons

Technology always improving which can sometimes cause confusion especially when dealing with State Farm employees in other states (i.e. calling billing staff, underwriters, etc.)

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at State Farm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pension plan, 401k matching, decent health benefits, tuition reimbursement, high salary potential with the right manager.

    Cons

People sometimes get hired into positions based on who they know even though they may not be qualified for the job.

Top heavy management. Some managers have 0-3 people reporting to them.

Poor performers/lazy workers get a free pass.

With HQ being in a small town, and a good number of employees from small towns, comes a small town mentality and thought process. Great town if you want to settle down and raise kids, love chain restaurants, and not too interested in culture or diversity.
