I worked at State Street full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

None currently, at least in IT division or what's left of it.

Cons

Outsourcing everything, no sense of structure and direction, people treated as bodies and get assigned to roles that they have zero competency in. Outsourcing isn't working out as well as it was sold and presents more issues than it claimed to solve.

Advice to Management

Take people specialties and competencies in consideration before assigning them to fill available roles.

I worked at State Street as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Profitable, growing company. One of the biggest in its field, global presence.

    Cons

Past several years have continued to see job cuts and outsourcing. They will do whatever they can to save money. Hiring seems to be comprised of contractors

    Advice to Management

People, departments, and divisions spread too thin may hurt company in long run. Of course current management won't care as long as they keep getting shares and increasing their value by eliminating jobs.

  2. Helpful (1)

"Good environment, good people, too much distance between executives and associates."

I worked at State Street full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good environment, lots of opportunities

    Cons

Executive management too disconnected, lost focus on employees for bottom line profits.

    Advice to Management

Seemed like SSBT was headed in the same direction of large wall street companies - sacrificing employees for executive bonuses and bottom line.
