I worked at State Street full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Provided the opportunity to move around and work in different areas which broadened the knowledge of how the company operates.
Work-life balance scheduling was great.
Volunteer program was very respectable.

Cons

Once in the company, merit increases were fairly small. Only way to get bigger pay is to go outside and then move back.
Promotions are based on a "queue" system instead of just good old "he/she deserves a promotion and will get it".

Advice to Management

The company has forever changed. The elimination of jobs, great workers with extensive knowledge, and moving a majority of these functions overseas for lower wages shows you really don't care about keeping valuable employees.

I have been working at State Street full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Plenty of networking opportunities
    -Great opportunities for career development
    -Always learning
    -Great insight into the industry

    Cons

-All the pros are contingent upon who your manager is

    Advice to Management

Make sure you have a good HR rep. I was lucky to interview with my current boss but I have no doubt in my mind that a lot of good candidates have been lost thanks to the horrible HR rep that I had. If I had interviewed with that HR rep prior to meeting my boss, I never would have accepted. The worst.
