I worked at State Street full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great company to have on your resume, creates opportunities long term.

Cons

Limited opportunities especially if you are working in a remote office, HR is not supportive.

Advice to Management

Managers need to engage more with their direct reports.

I have been working at State Street full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    A consistent paycheck
Benefits are comparable to other large companies

    Cons

Skeleton crew departments--departments are way understaffed
Be prepared to work your tail off with little chance to get a raise--review system is a joke
lack of reward/recognition system...it was taken away with nothing to replace it
lack of quality management--managers will hold meetings just for the sake of having meetings with little being actually accomplished
too much management--manager titles are thrown around like confetti, there are some managers who manage 2-3 people, some don't manage any
work is consistently being outsourced to China, India, and Phillipines
company has lost its focus--it's all about increasing the bottom line, clients aren't even an afterthought
If you aren't brown nosing someone, there's not much room for advancement--more of a chance of getting laid off than getting promoted
Company is very cheap---have to pay $2 a week for jeans day Friday, there will probably be no Christmas party as a cost saving initative...coffee maker was taken away since it was getting too costly

    Advice to Management

State Street has become a giant Titanic..Upper management seems to think they have everything figured out..The work can't get done without staff to do it.Rather than overload the skeleton crew staff, why not try hiring some people? What a concept!

I have been working at State Street full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work life ratio great. 4 weeks day 1, work from home

    Cons

IBM outsource deal for systems...cannot get much done anymore.
Most development work is off-shore or being pushed off.
Upper mgt Ail CTO and company really have no clue how to run an organization and are looking only to the next fiscal quarter to get their bonus.

    Advice to Management

Do some major head chopping at the top and get some fresh blood in there. Our IT leaders are leading us to the valley of death. You can boost you revenue for a quarter or even a year or so but your killing the tree from the roots. We are getting set up for major problems if we stay on the IT path we are on.
