I have been working at Statoil full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The hours are short so you keep a good work/life balance

Cons

Pay is lower than any other company buy a long shot; people promoted to management due to time in company, not their competence; have to be in your job 2 years minimum before you can move; bonus is extremely low for an oil company even when profits are record high; coworkers are there to retire so an overall lazy attitude; Norwegians preferred over foreigners for promotion

Advice to Management

Pay people livable wages

    Pros

    Statoil has one of the best work and life balance in the market. Working culture, depending on the business area (I work in Development & Production Norway) is very relaxed, including dress code. If you work for Statoil in Norway, the employment gives you some strange status.

    Cons

    Career development is very slow and for foreign graduates, Norway with it's cultural values can be really difficult to cope with. Project management take be really frustrating as decision making takes long time. Norway as a country to live in will challenge you as well, both cost-level wise and people-wise.

    Advice to Management

    Be more inclusive towards international employees. Compensation must be aligned with the market if the management wishes to stop the increasing turn-over among young people. Internal processes must be simplified and this should not take 5 years, but be rather executed fast track.
